mission & vision
To guide and assist anyone in need of resources for addiction treatment. We hope someday our services will no longer be needed.
"Dan's Foundation is dedicated to the memory of my beautiful son Daniel Ryan who lost his battle with addiction on June 23, 2011 at the age of 25. Sadly, Long Island and the entire country has a heroin and opiate epidemic. I am determined to help others suffering from substance abuse. Where there is life, there is hope. I hope together we can help you find your true north."
Dori Scofield created Dan's Foundation of Recovery, a 501c3 organization to assist young people seeking help and recovery for alcohol and substance abuse in April 2014.
With the help of Laura Soviero, Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor, weekly Parent of Addicts meetings began. Now we refer parents to the larger meetings at Hope House Ministries in Port Jefferson and The Bates House in Setauket
In August, 2014 Dan's Foundation hosted the first International Overdose Awareness Day on Long Island to observe those we have lost, those who struggle and those in recovery from addiction. We continue each August to raise awareness and break the stigma of addiction!
Dan's Foundation continues the mission of hope, healing, and recovery and have successfully guided over 100 young adults to recovery as of April 2017!
